The Erie County Adoption Resource Center (ECARC) is a pre- thru post-adoptive service that helps families in all stages of their adoption process. In many cases, as adoptions are finalized, families lose the support of agency staff assigned through child welfare mandates. The needs of families continue to evolve and this is where adoption and kinship caregiver support is critical. ECARC is run by adoptive parents who are adoption professionals. We understand what families are going through and the struggles they may face.
We can assist families who are in the process of finalizing their adoption and, most importantly, assist families after finalization when issues arise. Participating families are connected to a Case Manager who can provide support with educational, parenting and behavioral issues and assist families with referrals to other community resources as needed.
Services include:
- Information and help with referral to services including 24/7 crisis management
- Individual advocacy and support
- Monthly support groups and lifestyle events
- Parent education groups, trauma-informed trainings and family-oriented workshops
- Adoption competency training for parents and professionals
