President of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection to Lead Rochester Anti-Poverty Initiative Work Group
Augie Melendez, President HW-SC, has been selected to co-lead the Jobs/Workforce Development work group formed within the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative. The work group leaders were selected based on expertise and leadership within their specific area of focus. Augie will share the role with Wegmans’ Paul Speranza. The Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative is a coalition of about 100 agencies and organizations from health, business, human services, education and government. Hillside hosted the announcement about the initiative back in January when Kathy Hochul, NYS Lt. Governor, shared the news at a community meeting on the Monroe Campus, inclusive of many of Rochester’s leaders from government, non-profit and for profit organizations. The other work groups are Education, Housing, Health/Nutrition, Safe Neighborhoods, and Judicial. We are thrilled to have Augie bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to such a critical community issue. To learn more about the Anti-Poverty Initiative visit the initiative’s website.
