Hillside’s Community-Based Respite program provides short-term planned respite for children and families in order to stabilize and preserve placement within the home and prevent out-of-home placement.
About this Program
Community-Based Respite provides a brief out of home stay in community-based therapeutic foster homes or hourly respite with Hillside staff in the community. The service is designed to provide a brief out-of-home respite to preserve placement with the child’s primary caregiver.
Placement is voluntary and it is anticipated that youth will return home with ongoing community-based support and services after a short stay in the program. The goal of the intervention is to stabilize and preserve placement with the youth’s primary caregiver and maintain the youth safely in the community. Youth must be able to be safely maintained in a community-based therapeutic foster home or in the community for hourly respite with Hillside staff.
