Hillside strongly supports the passage of Daniel’s Law, a bill proposed today by New York State Assemblymember Harry Bronson and Senator Samra Brouk. Throughout this state and around the country, individuals in need of mental health assistance are too often met with a conventional police response that is poorly equipped to offer vital in-the-moment support. A single life lost to that practice is too much. Change is needed, and Daniel’s Law is an important step. Hillside will continue to work with local authorities and our county and state partners to offer assistance as this evolution in community-based mental health moves forward.
