Hillside Family of Agencies President & CEO Dennis M. Richardson to Retire Effective June 30, 2018
Richardson has led HFA’s growth and innovation since 1994
ROCHESTER, NY — Hillside Family of Agencies, one of the largest child-and-family human services organizations in the United States, announces the planned retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis M. Richardson. His retirement will be effective at the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2018, following 24 years of service to the organization.
Prior to joining Hillside Family of Agencies in 1994, Richardson was Executive Director of the Children’s Study Home in Springfield, MA. He also previously served as adjunct faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, as well as at St. Joseph’s Children’s Services in Brooklyn and at the Catholic Guardian Society of Brooklyn and Queens. A native of Brooklyn, he is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Social Work.
During Richardson’s tenure as Hillside’s leader, the organization has grown from a $30 million organization to an annual budget of $160 million and a staff of over 2,400 employees. Hillside partners with nearly 14,000 children and their families through 40 locations across upstate New York, Maryland and Washington, DC. It has one of the largest array of services for children and families in America, ranging from primary preventive services to residential treatment facilities. Under Richardson’s leadership, Hillside has developed nationally recognized innovative services and implemented cutting-edge programs for children and their families. Thousands of children have realized the promise of healthier lives and brighter futures.

Hillside’s Board has established a special committee to begin a national search for a new CEO.
